The only source for original replacement body panels produced in the very same molds with the very same process as originally produced. The year was 1973. Mark Spitz was named Athlete of the Year for his swimming talents; gold reached a record of $95.00 per ounce on the London Exchange; the movie "The Godfather" won an Academy Award for best picture; unknown Ken Norton defeated former heavyweight Mohammed Ali in a 12-round split decision in San Diego; Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in a tennis match billed as the "battle of the sexes;" five men were caught wire tapping the Democratic National Committee's headquarters in the Watergate complex, Washington, D.C.; and in Pontiac, Michigan, General Motors Corporation built its first motorhome. In the six years that followed, GMC produced some 13,000 motorhomes, of which 6,000 to 10,000 are still in operation today. Only quality of workmanship could boast of such achievement. Today's GMC motorhome owners can vouch for that. Many would rather restore than buy another manufacturer's vehicle because "they just don't make 'em like that anymore." With the last one built in 1978, restoration and maintenance are special events, requiring exclusive attention to the unique design and operation of these well-built machines.
